Q finished up four months of infusions at CHOA and we transferred to Kaiser where we will do them until her next transplant. We are waiting for kidney and liver transplant evaluations, which are hopefully being scheduled soon. Qs skin has broken down under her adhesives for the bileostomy, and it’s been sad and painful, while still grateful for a no-itching life.
G is struggling and we are working several areas on his side too. One is a liver transplant evaluation and they are starting with a liver biopsy and then MRI to get a better look. We will proceed from there. He will continue (med) infusions until his next transplant as well. He isn’t doing well.
They are both suffering from the impact of failing kidneys and livers. Their kidney functions are both in the teens. It’s not a lot if you are partial to a decent amount of kidney function like we tend to be. I have a lot to write about but I am weary. As you know, life keeps moving…calls to make and insurance to pay. So, someday I shall write.
*** Edited to add that G’s MRI is scheduled at 5:15am on Sunday before Thanksgiving because of course, middle of the night MRIs are a blast (they are nearly 24/7 to catch up post-pandemic). It was either midnight or 5:15am, ***
