Monday we visited the transplant center hospital and started the combined liver/kidney evaluation process for Q. It’s been a bit of a mess because her records and care are technically still at Children’s, except for the liver eval, which we were lucky to get in so quickly to be seen.
Her MELD score is in the 20s (doubtful it will be there long), which, just to let you know, isn’t good. It’s her kidney function that is pushing it up. Monday’s labs were not great for the kidney (17% function) but we are caught in the middle of a transition (albeit abrupt) to adult care. There are a few more tests for her then hopefully she can be listed for a combined liver/kidney transplant. It seems like it might be sort of a long wait on the list for various reasons…
G had an appointment and labs (20% kidney function) and while he isn’t close to dialysis, we are starting the discussions…
So. It’s a lot, but we’re just over here putting one organ in front of the other.
